Currently, the role-playing game Final Fantasy XVI remains a PlayStation 5 exclusive, but Square Enix is already working on a PC version of the game. As reported by GameInformer, series producer Naoki Yoshida stated that the team has made significant progress.
“In terms of where we are in development, we’re in the stage where we’re trying to figure out the final stages of optimization. When we can release the PC version may depend on the system requirements and specifications required by players, so we’re trying to figure that out. Naturally, the system requirements will be quite high.”
To allow players to assess whether their systems can handle the story of Clive Rosfield in advance, the company plans to release a demo version ahead of time.
According to Yoshida, the development of the PC version of FFXVI is progressing smoothly, but the creators are not yet ready to talk about release dates or even announcements. They will need quite some time.
“But one thing I can say for sure: it won’t be too distant in the future. It won’t be a year, it won’t be two years; it’ll probably happen much sooner, so stay tuned for updates.”
Earlier, Square Enix stated that they are striving to optimize the PC version as best as possible, but they won’t be able to bypass all limitations. In particular, this refers to the need for SSD usage. As for Final Fantasy XVI itself, the Echoes of the Fallen expansion has already been released, and The Rising Tide and Leviathan are coming soon.
